At the end of my banking career, I began my experience in the realm of nutrition and weight loss. From finance to nutrition! An interesting choice isn’t it????
My intrigue in nutrition began while I was a stressed out banker with a military spouse deployed during the Gulf War! I was a Vice President for a local bank, and my two daughters were teenagers (need I say more). Our youngest was a cheerleader and our oldest in her senior year of high school. I commuted over an hour a day and to say the children kept me busy is putting an understatement. I still had a job that required a lot of time, energy and hefty goals, so I found this stress had me put on some extra weight.
Needed Guidance to Lose the Weight
I joined the local Weight Watchers meetings. Met a great leader who helped me manage my stress which in turn helped me lose weight. Who knew that stress was a culprit to weight gain??? Once I got to my goal weight, they hired me to lead a meeting once a week. For five years I led many meetings a week. I enjoyed assisting others with their weight loss goals. I struggled with the ingredients in some of the products on the shelf and decided it was time to leave.
Ingredients are Key to your Health and Weight Loss Goals
To avoid the risk of regaining my weight, I studied ingredients and terminology. I’m still shocked at how many ingredients are harmful to our bodies. I began making changes to our meals which I found helped me keep my weight off. Chronic Disease is a concern for our family as our parents both have heart disease. Once I completed my nutrition certification, I opened my health coaching program. I have coached many clients in the past decade, many of which have lost over 100 pounds each.
It’s about HEALTH!
You will learn, it’s not always about weight loss with me. It’s about health! Longevity, Energy, Focus, reduced pain, and medications are how I relate to nutrition. I have an autoimmune disease, and my husband suffers from hypertension. It’s important for us to stay on top of our health goals. We both now are on reduced medications or none at all, because of how we learned to eat and cook.
When people ask me about weight loss or nutrition, it’ a joy for me to help them learn some tools. Real food with few processed ingredients is how we eat. I’ve learned and followed other programs like Whole 30, Gluten Free, Plant Based and more. I will share some experiences going forward so stay tuned!
