Hi there! I am happy to meet you and share a little bit about me and my life experiences!
I was born in Boise, ID (but long from being a Northwestern gal……..I hate the cold weather)! My father was military, so we moved to Florida shortly after I was born. We lived in Florida two more times and then my husband joined the military, and our first base was in Florida. We have now retired (well, not officially, but military retired) to a place many people vacation, and yes, you guessed it, back to Florida.
As you can tell, I’m as close to a Floridian as possible without being born here.
My husband and I married quite young, so my father suggested he join the military.
Look how young we were…………..
He did, and I went into banking, and this is where a lot of my experiences began (more about this when you see how my experiences became my reason, passion and WHY I started this blog).
I’ve have lived in 3 countries and know what it’s like to be a military child changing schools and meeting new friends. When I became a military spouse things got even more complicated, I never realized how sheltered I was as a child from the stressors of being a military spouse. My mother was a protector, so I didn’t know everything being a wife in this lifestyle meant. As we grew up in my military spouse role (literally, look at the wedding photo again to see what I mean), I had to become everything to everybody! The military is how we’ve lived and raised our children, and I would not have it any other way. However, the TDY’s, Remote Tours and Deployments sure had me second guessing this decision numerous times (too many to count really).
My husband and I both went on to complete our college degrees a few years after our children were born. I went the banking and finance route, and my husband general studies. I then found a passion for nutrition and became certified in this area. After working as a Leader for the top weight loss company in the United States and becoming a personal Health Coach, I became a writer for various magazines in the health and wellness field. With my numerous years in banking, working as a corporate trainer for Dave Ramsey and then my expertise in the area of nutrition I began sharing my experiences with others. Many suggested I write a book (way outside my comfort zone). I loved helping people and knew with a blog I could do just that!
Let’s end with my top ten various things about me (in no particular order) that you may read about later:
